Skay: I strongly suspect that with the issue of the latest version of Goldwave, there are a multitude of questions about the new product that simply can't be answered that quickly by the technical staff. Furthermoe, you asked the question on Friday (most of these firms don't have 24 hour 365 day tec...

Don: A P-4 1.7 Ghz should easily handle any music applications. I think you are on the right track with the soundcard. As you probably know, the word "value" isn't always synonomous with "good". In soundcards the word "value" means "cheap" as in quality. A goo...

DonL: Keep in mind that most people that produce music on their computers don't think that a soundcard that is built onto the motherboard to be worth the gunpowder it would take to blow it to H---. Soundblaster (Creative Labs) makes so many soundcards that there isn't enough room to list them all on...

Aftermath:

Here's another way of looking at it:

Since it hasn't been released yet, you still have something to look forward to. Once it's released, you don't.

AyeWright: I download mp3 files from a music forum I take part in on a regular basis (daily). When I'm in Goldwave and double click on the mp3 file, Goldwave immediately starts converting the mp3 file to a wave file. The resultant file can be edited (it is a wave file) but won't have the same qualit...

OverTheEdge:

An mp3 file is just an abbreviated (compressed) wave file. Same problems, once recorded and merged into one wave file, that's it.

Fusion: The thread entitiled, "While removing vocals", may not be of any help, but it may prevent you from becoming frustrated. I don't think you have two tracks in a Goldwave wave file, just a left and right channel and the voice will likely be on both, and in any event if you remove the ...

The is no good news. In a word, NO. Consider these instruments: clarinet, oboe, trumpet, bass sax, baritone sax, tenor sax, altosax, soprano sax, trombone, piano, drums, guitar, xylophone, singers, etcetera, etcetera. All these instruments produce a different combination of frequencies that enables ...

Terry: Perhaps the solution isn't in the magic bullet of software. If you don't have a good sound to start with and don't record it properly, software can't correct that. You used "echoy" to describe the sound, which might be a clue that the room you are recording in isn't helping any. Rev...

I find it indispensible.

Have been trying to convince others of its merit, but there are none so deaf as those who won't listen.

On the PG Music forums, this topic comes up regularly. Quite often (more than not) it is a resources problem, that is, not enough memory, memory allocation, or too many other programs running and sharing the resources with Goldwave. From what I've read, it is more common in pre-XP Windows - XP seem ...
