Re: Help/New User - Adding Warmth to Live Concert/Female
This guy probably asked the same basic question on 10 different audio forums. He got his answer somewhere else, and we'll probably never hear from him again. Nice.

Re: Version 5.66 does not work properly
Are you recording with an outboard interface, like a Behringer USB device, or are you recording with onboard sound hardware, like Realtek? I've found that onboard sound generally presents fewer recording and playback problems with GoldWave than outboard sound does. If you're recording with an outboa...

Re: Version 5.66 does not work properly
Is that Windows 7? The reason I'm asking is that you might experience performance differences between, say, Windows XP and Windows 7.

Re: Help/New User - Adding Warmth to Live Concert/Female
This is just a wild guess: Boost 3.0dB: 100-125Hz (warmth and bass) Boost 1.5dB: 530-570Hz (warmth) Reduce 3.0dB: Everything above 2.0kHz (shrillness) You have three different FX to play with in GoldWave itself: multi-band Equalizer, Parametric EQ, and the Spectrum Filter. P.S. Hey, no problem. Don'...

Re: VST Plug-ins error
I haven't had any problem getting late-release plug-ins from reputable devs to run.

Re: VST Plug-ins error
It depends on the plug-in. I've had some VST plug-ins that Goldwave simply wouldn't recognize, and others that would load and run just fine in Goldwave. Sometimes I've had problems with really old VST plug-ins not running. I wish I could offer some sort of hard-and-fast rule for getting a VST plug-i...

Re: Goldwave on Windows XP 64bit
You're using a version of Goldwave that will be 4 years old this May, and you want to know whether it will run on an OS that is rapidly losing support. M'kay. If you're going to upgrade to 64-bit anything, you might as well go all the way to Windows 7. Otherwise, stick with what you have, if for no ...

Re: USB Soundcard
Sorry, that's "PROJECT Series" not "Professional Series." My bad for trying to read things at an angle.

Re: USB Soundcard
ART USB Dual Pre Project Series. Using it with Windows 7. The reason I recommend it is that, unlike the little Behringer units, it has TRS inputs and outputs and the option to power it using a battery or a wall wart. Google for the best prices. Upside: Gorgeous sound, uses Windows drivers. Downside:...

Re: VST Installation
If you've installed the latest version of Goldwave, you can just drop your VST .dll's in the VST folder that Goldwave has installed for you. Or make your own VST folder in your Program Files directory and use that for your VST plug-ins. Then do Options>Plug-in>Effect, etc., etc., to make Goldwave fi...

Re: Distinct Stereo Sound?
There must be something wrong with your hardware setup. When I record stereo LPs, Goldwave records stereo files. There is definite channel separation. By the time your signal reaches Goldwave, it has become a mono signal, so you're simply recording in what is called "dual mono." You're mix...

Re: False "out of memory" error on Windows 7
Well, Tim, I don't know precisely what you're doing, but I don't get anything like the inefficiencies you describe temping to my hard drive. Still, if I had 8GB, or more, of RAM, I might consider temping to memory. However, yours is the first complaint I've heard about a memory deficiency in batch p...

Re: False "out of memory" error on Windows 7
Temp storage = hard drive.
I don't think any of the other settings would affect batch processing in any way.

Re: False "out of memory" error on Windows 7
So, basically, this happens when you batch one file but with several processes in sequence -- e.g., NR, EQ, max volume, reverb, compression, etc.? I've batched groups of files that were each 100's of MB's in size, but with, at most, two processes per file. I'm running Win 7 Home, 3 GB RAM, GW 5.58 a...
