Problem saving 8 hour long file

Post by mr2828 »

I created a new 8 hr 2 minute long file. When I try to save it I get the message that it can't be saved as a WAV and that I should use an alternate format. Ok, so I pick the Extended Audio format (.xac) but then I still get the same error message. I don't want to save this as a lossy format.

You didn't mention what OS you use, but Win 98/Me limits file size to (I think) 4GB. A 44100 16-bit stereo wav 8 hours long would be much bigger. If you're using 2000/XP, all bets are off....no clue.

Wave files cannot hold more than 4GB of audio. It is a limitation of the specification. The Extended Audio format is supposed to work, but there seems to be a glitch with that. You can use the WMA format with Lossless attributes. That will make the file about half the size without any loss of quality.
