hi !
i have a video file which have a audio track i wish to export (to increase volume and have a mp3 for my player).
the audio track is in AAC and the video file is a .MP4 (h264 video).
When i open it with goldwave, it doesn't recognize the audio format and ask me something weird (dialog box i don't understand).
Whereas, with other video, like .mpeg it allows and recognize the audio track.
so, how can i do ?
thanks for support me for my first topic here
ps : long life to goldwave !

Re: How to open video h264 with AAC audio track in goldwave
NOTE - I've never tried opening an H264 A/V file with Goldwave.
Here are some conversion programs you can try:
XRECODE (FREE!!!)
XRECODE II ($15 USD)
AoA Audio Extactor (FREE!!!)
Audacity* (FREE!!!)
NOTE - Since you want to edit the file, I recommend you extract/convert to WAV and then save as MP3 after editing. MP3 (and AAC) are lossy compression, so you theoretically loose quality every time you encode... GoldWave (and most other audio editors) need to decode for editing so it requires a 3rd lossy encoding step if you convert from AAC to MP3 and then edit and save as MP3.
* You'll need to download the optional FFMPEG import/export library. (Audacity is an open source audio editor.)
You might try changing the file name from .MP4 to .MPG.... I don't really think that will help, but it's worth a try... H264 is an MPEG-4 variation, and I don't know why GoldWave even "cares" about the video...Whereas, with other video, like .mpeg it allows and recognize the audio track.

GoldWave doesn't include AAC/MP4 decoders, but if you install the Apple QuickTime Player or iTunes, that should allow you to open those files in GoldWave provided they are not copy protected.
