16x9 in Portrait

Post by InyoRanger »

I have a video that is in 16x9 (1920x1080) format (landscape). I would like to rotate this 90 degrees CCW (1080x1920) so that it would play full screen in the vertical rather than horizonal.

Will Videomeld do this? Seems like it should be relatively simple, but I'm not having any success.

Load the video and click on the yellow “effects” star. Now hit the green “+” button. Go to “size, position, and orientation effect and then choose “Rotate/scale” and in the custom settings window, enter “-90”.

Yes, that procedure turns the video 90 degrees but when you meld to video (1080 width by 1920 height (vertical HD)) it creates a video 1080 width by 1920 height, but the actual image in the video only fills about 50% of the video space. It does not create a full-frame 1080 width by 1920 height video.

Ok then, try this:- Go to “options” and select “Video Aspect Ratio” and scroll down and select 9:16.
Now import your video and select “Video Effects” (click onto the yellow star) and choose “Crop/Pan/Zoom”. Keep aspect ratio on. Choose Stretched mode. On the trial video I tried here I Entered 0.210 in the “Top” box and -0.210 in the Bottom box. You might have to do a trial for yourself here. This will modify the landscape video to fit the preview window. The video will look strange but it will fill the vertical screen area. BTW, what are you trying to achieve??
